Child Labor Program

aysdn-program3-11-1920

Program details:

We at the Arab Youth Sustainable Development Network (AYSDN) recognize the challenge that child labor in agriculture poses for the MENA region.

This harmful practice deprives children of their right to education and exposes them to hazardous working conditions.

We are committed to promoting youth engagement to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and recognize that ending child labor in agriculture is crucial for achieving SDGs 1, 2, and 8.

AYSDN plans to launch a comprehensive program to address this issue, which will include a combination of research, awareness-raising, policy advocacy, education and training, and the development of alternative livelihoods.

To achieve these goals, we will partner with local organizations and communities to develop targeted interventions and identify the root causes of child labor in agriculture.

We will also work with governments, businesses, and civil society to develop and implement policies and programs that prevent and eliminate child labor in agriculture

Our program will provide education and training opportunities to affected children and young people, with a focus on skills that are in demand in the local labor market.

We will collaborate with international organizations and networks to share knowledge and best practices, and to advocate for the rights of children and young people.

Our program will involve a range of activities, including conducting research and assessments to identify the prevalence and drivers of child labor in agriculture, developing and disseminating informational materials and campaigns, organizing workshops and trainings for affected children and young people, engaging with policy makers and stakeholders to advocate for change, and working with local organizations and communities to develop alternative livelihoods.

We plan to implement a pilot project in one or more locations in the MENA region to test and refine our strategies and activities. The project will be funded through a combination of grants, partnerships, and fundraising activities.

Our ultimate goal:

Iis to replicate this successful model in other locations, and to contribute to the broader effort to end child labor in agriculture in the MENA region.
