About AYSDN

The Arab Youth Sustainable Development Network (AYSDN) is a youth-led regional organization established in 2018 to unite young professionals and experts across the MENA region and the Arab diaspora in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Legally registered in Yemen and Canada, AYSDN empowers young people as changemakers by connecting policy engagement with action on the ground.

AYSDN works across sectors in partnership with local governments, civil society organizations, international institutions, and private-sector actors. Through a proven record of impactful programs, advocacy campaigns, and capacity-building initiatives across the MENA region, AYSDN represents Arab youth in high-level United Nations forums and climate conventions — including the UNFCCC, ECOSOC, and UNDP platforms — translating global policy into practical, community-driven solutions.

Who Can Join?

AYSDN membership is open exclusively to registered non-governmental organizations (NGOs) legally established in any of the 22 Arab League member states — Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen — that are youth-led, youth-focused, or actively engaged in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.

WHAT AYSDN OFFERS TO MEMBERS

  1. Capacity Building & Mentorship
  • Thematic training on the SDGs, climate action, peacebuilding, gender equality, education, and leadership.
  • Participation in regional workshops and mentoring from experienced practitioners.
  1. Digital & Operational Support
  • Access to toolkits, reporting templates, and cloud-based collaboration tools.
  • Technical support for project design, management, monitoring, and evaluation.
  1. Policy & Advocacy Exposure
  • Eligibility to represent AYSDN at UN and global summits, including COP, ECOSOC, UNEA and the HLPF.
  • Participation in policy co-drafting, position papers, and joint declarations.
  1. Solidarity & Peer Learning
  • Access to AYSDN’s community forum for learning exchanges and collaborative projects.
  • Engagement in biannual regional dialogues and thematic circles.

PRINCIPLES OF MEMBERSHIP

  • Members must be registered NGOs legally established in one of the 22 Arab League member states.
  • Member organizations must be youth- or community-led, or actively contribute to youth empowerment and SDG implementation.
  • Members commit to non-violence and inclusivity, and reject discrimination and extremist affiliations of any kind.
  • Members must demonstrate alignment with AYSDN’s mission, values, and vision for regional development.

MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES

Members are expected to:

  • Participate in at least three AYSDN-led events, forums, or campaigns each year.
  • Provide a concise progress update or report on their relevant initiatives twice a year.
  • Engage in collective advocacy or thematic working groups where possible.
  • Uphold transparency and ethical conduct in all AYSDN-related activities.
