The Arab Youth Sustainable Development Network witnessed the conclusion of the “Youth Leadership Capacity-Building Workshop” program after three training days focused on developing leadership skills and strengthening concepts of sustainable development among participating youth.
The workshop opened with the session “Communication Skills, Teamwork, and Participatory Leadership,” presented by trainer Rawan Al-Saqqaf, which addressed the importance of effective communication in building work teams and enhancing the spirit of cooperation among individuals. The session also focused on the concept of mindful listening as one of the most important elements of successful communication emphasizing that “A mindful listener: understands ,responds, feels.” The session concluded by affirming that effective communication is not limited to the exchange of words and that teamwork does not simply mean meeting.
In the second session trainer Raja Mohammed Salman presented a session titled “Principles of Leadership and Sustainable Development,” during which she discussed the role of conscious leadership in driving societal change and linking environmental and humanitarian concepts to the reality of youth. She also stressed that “Influence does not require years of experience; it requires management,” referring to the importance of having vision and the ability to direct efforts effectively.
The second day of training featured an interactive session titled “Leadership through Simulation,” presented by trainer Sondos Quaider. The session relied on simulation and practical application to develop participants leadership skills through situations and experiences aimed at enhancing decision-making and teamwork abilities.
The workshop concluded on its final day with trainer Youssef Qahwaji in a session that addressed critical thinking skills and decision-making strategies amid broad engagement from participants who discussed several issues and scenarios related to leadership and creating societal impact.
Across all its sessions the workshop emphasized the importance of investing in youth capabilities and empowering them with the tools of leadership and conscious thinking contributing to the preparation of a generation capable of addressing societal challenges and building a more sustainable future.
