AYSDN Participates Virtually in UNEP’s 13th Annual Subcommittee Meeting
The Arab Youth Sustainable Development Network (AYSDN) participated virtually in the 13th Annual Subcommittee Meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), held from 7 to 11 September 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya, with both in-person and online participation.
AYSDN was represented in the meeting by Ms. Eman Al-Sharafi, Executive Director of the Arab Youth Sustainable Development Network, who joined the virtual sessions and followed discussions addressing key environmental and sustainable development priorities.
The meeting brings together representatives and stakeholders to discuss important issues related to UNEP’s work and strategic direction, including programme performance, environmental governance, sustainable financing, institutional effectiveness, and coordination across the United Nations system.
Key agenda items include the contribution of regional environmental forums to UNEP’s Medium-Term Strategy 2026–2029, the UN80 Initiative, the operationalization of the One Impact Framework, and preparations for the 2026 Conferences of the Parties to the three Rio Conventions.
AYSDN’s participation reflects its continued commitment to engaging in international environmental and sustainable development processes and ensuring that youth perspectives from the Arab region remain connected to global discussions shaping environmental action.
Through its engagement, AYSDN continues to support meaningful youth participation and contribute to dialogue on sustainable development, climate action, and environmental governance.
