As a part of our targeted programs and activities, an awareness-building meeting, hosted on Zoom platform, was conducted by the Arab Youth Sustainable Development Network(AYSDN) on Saturday, March 13, 2021, for the sake of raising awareness among youths, regarding the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs). The outreach activity was joined by many youths from different countries of the middle east, including Yemen, Palestine, Tunisia and Lebanon
Introducing SDGs and their Importance
Head of AYSDN Mr.Tareq Hassan, who undertook activity conducting, started the workshop outset by introducing the participants to key historical events that had contributed to the advent of the SDGs in 2015. He emphasized on the importance of those events, and how they were developed to form the SDGs in their familiar order. AYSDN founder proceeded to explain the 17 goals with all clauses embedded within. He marked the significance of each one of these goals, and the major role they play to bring peace and prosperity to nations and societies. He introduced the participants to important information, that raised their awareness, making them recognize their roles to help make 2030 goals be fulfilled.
Answering Question and Ending the Workshop
The meeting ended by answering questions, posed by participants, with many that varied between wondering about the individual role in meeting 2030 goals and how possible it is to make this happen. There were a lot of wonders from many participants, which was noticed by the host to make him say “it’s obvious that it is harder to incorporate our governments and communities toward fulfilling SDGs in the middle east, but there is hope, especially when all of you, coming from different places, join this”. He ended the meeting by thanking the AYSDN team who was in charge of arranging the activity.
