Arab Youth Sustainable Development Network (AYSDN) Participates in the Second Arab Forum for Equality in Beirut.
On Tuesday, June 6, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) inaugurated the activities of the Second Arab Forum for Sustainable Development for the year 2023 at the United Nations House in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, to mobilize action during this period for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that world leaders agreed to achieve by 2030.
This year’s forum carried the slogan “One Voice, Equality in Food Security”.
The international event was attended by a number of high-level personalities, including leaders, ministers, experts, and representatives of civil society organizations.
AYSDN was one of the participants in the activities of the forum, represented by its president, Dr. Tariq Hassan. On poverty and support for equality are the most prominent of these goals.
The forum discussed the importance of equality in food security in MENA Regions and its impact on societies, one-third of which suffer from food insecurity, while a third also suffer from obesity. The talks touched on the impact of equality on creating peaceful, just and inclusive societies.
