Founder and Head of the Arab Youth Sustainable Development Network
Tareq Hassan is currently serving as the Founder and Head of the Arab Youth Sustainable Development Network (AYSDN) since January 2018. He is also leading one of the most leading organization in Yemen as the Chairman of International Youth Council -Yemen (IYCY) with 300 Staff and Volunteers working in different projects such as Water Sanitation Hygiene Assistance (WASH) , Nutrition, Food Security, Health, Shelter, Protection, Governance, Education, Peace, Energy, Environment and Climate Change as well as Youth development. Locally, He was working to provide support to the affected communities and helping the government respond to the needs in a way that would mitigate conflict triggers, peacebuilding, social cohesion, and livelihoods assistance in conflict and emergency affected areas. He was Elected as the UN Environment (UNEP) Regional Facilitator for Major Groups and Stakeholders (Civil Society) for the West Asia Region during the UNEP Consultative Meeting (November 2015, September 2017 and May 2020). In addition, to his International Experience for two years at Sheikh Thani Bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) in Qatar as Humanitarian Program Manager, he was able to acquire a professional skill on grant projects management, implementation and monitoring of work plans, strategies and contingency plans plan as well as Liaised and coordinated with partners from 97 countries and followed up on the project’s implementations monitoring and evaluation in different areas.
He has also worked as an advisor for Non -Government organizations in the Arab Region especially for Sustainable development policy and development Projects. He was one of the reviewers of Global Environment Outlook (GEO-6). He gained professional experience in Climate change and environment negotiations, fundraising, technical Expertise on the policy statements and enhance Major Groups and stakeholder’s engagement. He has conducted numerous training on Sustainable Development and participated in tens of international conferences, summits, workshops, round tables, in Europe, Africa, Asia. On 1st December 2020, Mr. Tareq has been appointed by Climate Action Network – International (CAN) as the Relation and Communication Manager for the Climate Action Network Arab World (CAN-AW).
Tareq holds a Master of Science in management of Sustainable Development Goals (MSDG) from the University of LUMSA – Italy and a Bachelor’s degree of Chemical Engineering from the University of Malaya – Malaysia. He has gone through numerous Professional training courses in, leadership, Management, Organization Management, Soft Skills, and Research and gained a diploma in Economic Development from the American University in Cairo.
He has been selected as a fellow for The Global People’s Summit Fellowship Program (Global People’s Fellows) in August 2018
