Arab Youth Sustainable Development Network Begins a New Chapter in Global Environmental Action by Joining the GEF CSO Network

In a strategic move that enhances the standing of Arab youth on the international environmental stage, the Arab Youth Sustainable Development Network (AYSDN) announced today its official entry into the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Civil Society Organization (CSO) Network. This announcement follows the acceptance of the network’s membership application on February 23, 2026, opening new horizons for youth to contribute more effectively to addressing the urgent environmental challenges facing the world.

The GEF CSO Network, established in 1995, is an independent global alliance of civil society organizations from around the world, aimed at fostering dialogue and partnership with the GEF and all its bodies. This membership is not just a seat at a global table; it is a recognition of the vital role that Arab youth play in driving positive change.

In this context, Abeer Al-Maswari, Director of Media and Communication at AYSDN, said: “Joining the GEF CSO Network is a landmark in our journey. We are not just joining a network; we are becoming part of a global movement that shares our vision for a sustainable future. This membership is a powerful platform that will allow us to raise the voice of Arab youth and present their innovative ideas and initiatives to contribute to shaping global environmental policies.”

Since its inception, AYSDN has dedicated its efforts to empowering youth in the Arab region, providing them with the knowledge and tools to address critical issues such as climate change, food security, and desertification. Through this new membership, the network will be able to enhance its impact on the global stage. It will actively participate in shaping environmental policies and gain greater advocacy power through a unified collective voice. New avenues will also open up for accessing resources, including funding opportunities and technical expertise, expanding its network with like-minded organizations worldwide, and benefiting from advanced training programs to build youth capacities.

AYSDN looks forward to embarking on this new chapter of collaboration and contributing effectively to the shared goals of protecting our planet and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
