Innovative Solutions to Climate Challenges and Inspiring Success Stories in the Sixth Empowerment Session

Continuing its efforts to empower youth and enhance their role in addressing climate challenges, the Arab Youth Sustainable Development Network (AYSDN) organized the sixth session of its Empowerment program on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, titled “Innovative Solutions to Climate Challenges and Inspiring Success Stories.” The session featured participation from experts and specialists in the environmental and climate fields.

Held virtually, the session gathered 145 youth participants from various Arab countries. The speakers included:

Anas Aqabah – Entrepreneur and environmental activist,

Omar Badkhan – Founder of “Biological Treasure” and the first Yemeni and Arab to receive the Earth Champions Youth Award.

The session focused on highlighting the key climate challenges facing the region and the world, showcasing innovative and effective solutions, and presenting inspiring success stories in environmental entrepreneurship to motivate youth to establish their own climate-focused projects.

This session took place amid the release of the 2024 annual climate update by the World Meteorological Organization, which issued a renewed “red alert” due to the accelerated pace of climate change within a single generation, driven by continuously rising greenhouse gas levels.

The report indicated that the period from 2015 to 2024 is set to be the warmest decade on record, marked by rapid glacier loss, rising sea levels, increasing ocean temperatures, and escalating extreme weather events causing widespread economic and social damage.

Additionally, findings from the 2024 report published by The Lancet reveal unprecedented public health threats linked to climate change, with most health threat indicators reaching alarming new highs. The report calls for redirecting trillions of dollars currently invested in fossil fuel financing toward accelerating a just and rapid transition to a low-emission economy, protecting the health of billions worldwide.

Through this session, AYSDN reaffirms its ongoing commitment to empowering youth, enriching their knowledge, and enabling them to actively participate in crafting innovative solutions to climate challenges.
