AYSDN Holds Fourth Training Session on “The Role of Youth in Sustainable Development”

As part of the “Empowerment Program” and its continued efforts to raise awareness among Arab youth about their vital role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Arab Youth Sustainable Development Network (AYSDN) held its fourth training session on Saturday, July 5, 2025, under the title: “The Role of Youth in Sustainable Development.”
The session witnessed active participation from 166 youth attendees representing various Arab nationalities.

Driven by the firm belief that youth are a driving force for social change, economic growth, and innovation, and key players in climate action and community engagement, the session shed light on “Empowering Arab Youth in Climate Action and Green Innovation.” It explored how youth can become agents of change and catalysts for real transformation in addressing climate and environmental challenges.

The session was led by:
Salman Al-Abd – Climate negotiator and researcher in energy trade and carbon markets
Marwa Saleh – Climate coordinator at Nahda Makers Organization and expert in sustainability and climate justice

The speakers emphasized that youth participation in sustainable development is not optional – it is essential. They highlighted the role of young people in eliminating poverty and hunger through rural and agricultural initiatives, improving community well-being through the health sector, and contributing meaningfully to decision-making, technology adoption, innovation, and volunteerism – all of which support economic and social sustainability.

The discussion also addressed the importance of empowering youth through education and training, which enhances their capabilities and enables them to lead efforts toward achieving the SDGs.

At the end of the session, one participant remarked:
“I felt that my voice truly matters – we’re not just digital attendees, but a powerful force capable of transforming reality and shaping a better future.”

AYSDN will continue the program with the upcoming fifth session on Monday, focusing on “Developing Public Climate Policy – Youth Recommendations and Data”, as part of its mission to prepare a conscious and engaged generation ready to lead on climate and development issues.
