UNEP celebrations World Environment Day for the year 2023, and plastic pollution is on the priority table

United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Côte d’Ivoire announced today that Côte d’Ivoire will host 2023 World Environment Day celebrations on 5 June under the theme of finding solutions to plastic pollution.

The year 2023 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the celebration of World Environment Day, and the country of Côte d’Ivoire, in partnership with the Netherlands, was chosen to host this year’s celebrations.

Over the past five decades, World Environment Day has become one of the largest global platforms for environmental awareness, and tens of millions of people participate in commemorating it, along with governments, companies, cities, and community organizations.

In the context of the great interest that the Arab Youth Sustainable Development Network (AYSDN) attaches to all environmental and climate issues, and as an embodiment of the societal responsibility that it has chosen to shoulder with all due respect, the network implements a number of field and electronic environmental activities and programs on various platforms and in partnership with active parties and organizations in this field to enhance awareness. environment and shift towards safer and less risky options.

It is worth noting that this annual event will discuss the scourge of plastic pollution and will launch the campaign under the hashtag #BeatPlasticPollution #BeatPlasticPollution.
